Teach Primary: Pizza Fractions

This month’s issue of Teach Primary magazine features another of my lesson plans. This one is a KS2 Maths lesson with a focus on fractions. In this lesson, children get to act as chefs adding ingredients to pizzas.

During this lesson, children have opportunities to:

  • recognise, find and write unit and non-unit fractions
  • begin to calculate fractions of quantities
  • identify and show equivalent fractions with small denominators
  • solve problems involving fractions and discuss approaches
