3rd March 2020
In the March 2020 issue of Teach Primary magazine, you can read my maths lesson plan on Roman numerals. This lesson is aimed at upper KS2 pupils and combines historical knowledge of the British monarchy with mathematics.
Prior to teaching this lesson, children should already have a basic understanding of Roman numerals. This lesson will build on their understanding, allowing them to read and write years in Roman numerals.
During this lesson, children have opportunities to:
- Read and write years in Roman numerals.
- Understand Roman numerals in historical context.
- Know about various monarchs in British history.
- Answer questions and derive information from given data.
