“If only I had known about this sooner, I could have done this great activity with my class or I could have done an assembly about this topic…”
Does this sound familiar? I don’t know about you, but I often find out about an event or notable date when it is already too late. For example, I completely missed National Children’s Gardening Week in May and this could have been a great opportunity for a fabulous Summer term project.
We could have done some great art and design work. We could have incorporated maths problems. We could have done some creative writing around gardens and wildlife. We could have grown vegetables and looked at healthy eating. We could have taken part in some Forest Schools activities.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing…
It is because of this that I have created a calendar of notable dates and events for the upcoming academic year. You may have noticed – especially if you are on Twitter – that there are an uncountable number of these “special days” so I have tried to limit it to those most relevant to teaching. I have colour coded the events based on whether they are related to: health & wellbeing; the environment; religious holidays; historical events; art & design; maths & science; literacy; PSHE; or just plain fun.
Hopefully, having this calendar will prevent me from missing or overlooking any relevant teaching opportunities in the future. 🤞🏻 I figured I can’t be the only one who has been looking for a comprehensive calendar containing this sort of thing so I have uploaded my calendar to my TES shop where you can download it for free.
Have I missed anything? If so let me know via Twitter or send me an email – sales(at)missbritton.co.uk.
I’d love to know if you have found this calendar useful (even if only for keeping up to date with popular hashtags 😅).
