A Look Back at 2019

~ 16th December 2019 ~

As we approach 2020, it’s a great time to reflect on the last twelve months. It is important to remind yourself of your achievements and successes (however big or small) and consider all you have to be grateful for. It is with these thoughts in mind that I decided to write a summary of my 2019.

New Momma

Just 23 days into 2019, I was promoted to the position of “mommy”!

Despite the sleepless nights, dirty nappies and messy mealtimes, motherhood has been an absolute delight! It is wonderful to see this little munchkin learning about the world around her as she grows day by day. I look forward to all the challenges and joys that lie ahead. ?

Teach Primary Contributions

Throughout 2019, I am pleased to say I have contributed four lesson plans to Teach Primary magazine. Follow the links below to read the full articles.

Resources, Resources, Resources

This year I have uploaded several new resources to my TES shop including a multiplication square worksheet, inspirational classroom quotes, apostrophes posters, fronted adverbials worksheet and bar model posters.

A very popular resource this year was my academic calendar of notable dates and events. This proved to be a great success and from now on, I will be creating one of these calendars each year.

Writing for CGP

Towards the end of 2018, I was offered the opportunity to write for CGP Books. I wrote the questions for the KS2 Geography – Rivers Activity Book which was published in May 2019.

From the Journal

This year, in my journal I have written entries on the following topics:

Social Media

In 2019, I am pleased to say that I managed to reach over 1000 followers on Twitter! #Edutwitter is a great source of educational news, lesson ideas, heart-warming stories and, of course, fun! Thank you to all my followers for your continued support.

I also have an Instagram account and a Linked In profile, both of which I plan to upload more content to in the coming year. Please feel free to connect! ?

Tuition

In September, I returned to tuition after 9 months maternity leave. I currently tutor eight students (aged 5-12) in Maths and English on weekday evenings and I am pleased to say they are all making fantastic progress. I would like to say a big thank you to all my students for working so hard and being a pleasure to teach! I’d also like to thank their wonderful parents for welcoming me into their homes each week and being so hospitable.

Final Thanks

As the year draws to a close, I would just like to wish everybody reading this a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Happy New Year

I would also like to thank everybody that has supported me over the last two years. Thank you to all those that read my journal and follow my updates on social media. Thank you to my students and their parents for making my job so enjoyable. Thank you to my wonderful daughter for bringing a smile to my face each and every day. Thank you to my friends and family for all those moments of much needed downtime. Most importantly, thank you to my amazing husband, Tom Cash, for supporting me through thick and thin, being a sounding board for my ideas, giving me a confidence boost when I need it, taking care of our home and our family and just generally being awesome!

2019/20 Calendar of Notable Dates & Events

6th August 2019

I often find out about an event or notable date when it is already too late. Because of this, I have created a calendar of significant events for the upcoming academic year.
