The Guardian: EAL Feature

~ 16th March 2018 ~

Last month, I wrote a journal entry about Useful Twinkl Activities fo New EAL Starters. The following week, I received this tweet from Matthew Jenkin (a freelance journalist who writes for The Guardian), asking to interview me about teaching EAL students.

Naturally, I accepted the invitation to chat. We discussed the challenges that bilingual or multilingual children face when learning to handwrite in English. These potential barriers can impact a child’s proficiency and development so I offered some friendly advice to teachers as to how best overcome these challenges and support the pupils.

Yesterday, the article was published on The Guardian website.

I am glad to have been able to contribute to this article and I welcome the opportunity to discuss educational issues.
